FAQs
How should I send my document to you?
We can accept some documents by email. When posting documents we recommend that you use some form of ‘recorded’ delivery. Our office is manned Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm and all courier services visit our office daily.
We also provide you with several postal options for the return of your document. Please see our order form for details.
Can the Apostille Certificate be applied to any document?
Nearly all documents can have an apostille. It is the norm for documents to be executed in the country of origin. A UK document gets a UK apostille (there are exceptions to this so please contact us for more advice). There are a few documents that simply cannot be issued with an apostille. For example a home office letter relating to your right to work in the UK is solely for use within the UK and cannot be processed.
How do I legalise my degree certificate?
It is normal practice to issue the apostille on a copy of the degree certificate. We take a copy of your degree and have it certified as a true copy of the original then have the Apostille attached to the copy. This avoids having the apostille stamp on the original. We can attach the Apostille to the original if requested to do so and you should make this clear when contacting us.
Can a copy Birth Certificate have an apostille?
Put simply – no! Certain documents have to be the original or a certified copy provided by the General Register Office. Birth Certificates, Marriage Certificates and Death Certificates must be actual registry office documents, not copies.
Do I need an apostille for marriage abroad?
The answer is likely to be yes. You may be asked to provide a number of documents when marrying outside of the UK. You may need an Apostille Certificate applied to your Birth Certificate, Copies of Passports or a Certificate of No Impediment. In some cases you may need to produce an affidavit stating you are single.
How do I execute an estate abroad?
When a family member or spouse has died the estate may contain property or assets from abroad. You may be asked to provide evidence of marriage, the last will and testament or the death certificate. The Apostille Certificate may be required before these documents are accepted.
Do I need an apostille to work abroad?
More and more countries now request that you provide an apostille before the will issue a work visa. The most common documents are a criminal record background check and copies of your academic documents.

Legalisation is not something you will have to undertake regularly so you want to be sure of getting it right first time. Choose a service provider carefully. We regularly pick up the pieces for customers when service providers let them down.
DO NOT use a one man band. We had to assist one client with time sensitive documents because the service provider ‘went on holiday’.
DO NOT use tin pot home based businesses. Your documents are not secure in someones house. Use a secure service provider with security measures in place.
MAKE SURE they have lots of advisors on hand. Is your call answered in 3 rings? Is your email answered quickly.
Still not sure. Contact us for free advice. No catch, no gimmick, just straight forward advice.
